Murder Party Review

6 out of 10 Skulls

I watched another horror last night and guess what, it was another B rate horror flick.  This one did not do the genre justice though as the director could have capitalised on a lot of parts but just missed it all together.

The basis for the story is 5 inept friend decide to throw a murder party.  Put out an invitation and if someone shows up they will murder him.  Simple enough pretense to a movie but it missed.

The friends are about as smart as a bunch of starving New York artist, which is good as they all are.  You have two females in the original party with 3 men.  One of the women is into fim, while you don't find out about the other as she is soo stoned on the cocaine they use that she falls over at the begining and impales her head on a piece of metal.  This is when you see just what type of special effects are used.  She sits back up with blood pouring down the side of her face with everyone looking on and starts to talk all garbled like.

Out of the 3 males, one is into photography, one into painting, and the third you never find out.

During the conversation which occurs and the dialogue is a bit dry and unecessary, two other characters show up which is when things get into full swing.  Problem is the movie never really gets to take off like you would expect.

The amount of blood thrown around the scene during some of the murders is rediculous, if you lost that much blood you would die (oops they did).  This is what helped save the movie for me, even though the death scenes where over done in blood and the wounds that of an amatuer it helped the movie.  Some of the death scenes was a bit priceless the way they died and the ham acting just made it fun.

This is a reasonable B rate horror/comedy flick to watch if you are in the mood for some light entertainment.
