À l'intérieur (Inside) Review

From Haute Tension to Frontiere(s), Sheitan to Ils, while Hollywood's cranking out it's next remake, the Frenchies are blowing minds with REAL horror. Now we can add "Inside" to the list of amazing fear-flicks. Here, a woman (9 month preggers and recently involved in an auto accident that claimed her hubby) is being terrorized in her home by a homocidal bitch hell-bent on cutting the poor mom-to-be to ribbons. No PG-13 tweeny-bop shit here, folks. This is one of the most intense, bloody, downright gut-wrenching flicks I've seen in ages.
Seriously, this flick looks like it was dipped in blood! 'course, what makes this even more special is that it's VERY well-made. The tension here is real. We truly fear for this woman (and her unborn child, shown often in the throes of distress!) and the mood created by the creepy synth score and bleak colors adds an inescapable mood of dread. While the gore is jaw-dropping and beyond plentiful, it somehow manages to look artistic and never exploitative. One of the best horror films I've seen. Will no doubt be "too much" for some, but for fans of the "rough stuff" this is essential viewing!
