House of the Dead Review

I definitely had to check out the movie "House of the Dead" because it is by far my favorite game to play at the local arcade. I had no idea what to expect because game to film adaptations are usually hit or miss.

I guess the film maker wanted to try something different because he chose not to follow the storyline of the popular game. Instead they opted to tell the story of a bunch of college kids who take a boat to a rave on a secluded island for Spring Break. When the group arrives to the island there is no party, or a soul in sight. As night falls , hordes of zombies make sure no one gets off the Island alive.

I know a lot of people hate this movie for obvious reason: They had fast zombies who could attack with weapons and swim, All of a sudden the group of kids became experts at weaponary and martial arts, They kept using Matrix stop motion shots, and most of all! The backstory was stupid and had nothing to do with the movie.

With all that being said , I found the movie to be actually entertaining. It was so ridicules that it was enjoyable. The battle scene between the Zombies and Kids was quite impressive. It lasted like 30 minutes ( literally) and it played out like a music video with quick cuts, video game inserts, and a cheesy song.

If I had to describe this movie it would be:" Day of the Dead: Contigium"/"Matrix"/ "Bad porn acting".

I think this is Uwe Boll's best work.( Which isn't saying much)
