Diary of the Dead Review

9 out of 10 Skulls

Romero gets 4 out of 5 hairy eyeballs from me for his latest “Dead”.  I was afraid that the POV would be like that used in  “Cloverfield” (which was a very good show despite the ceaseless wobbly camera)  Romero used different camera mediums like the cell phone camera, security cameras, and two bigger cameras that were not always on the move.  I think there was some footage of live (news) events too.

The characters were real with good dialogue and development.  I was concerned for the fate of the characters and cared what happened to them by the end of the film.  There were some funny moments where I actually laughed out loud, and Romero’s satirical social humor was to blame.  The gore was left a lot to the imagination, but it was a less-is-more effect.  The gore that was shown was damned good.  The CGI effects were done very well and lent beautiful color to the scenes.  The zombies looked great and there were squibs galore exploding blood all over the place. ♥.  I really enjoyed this entry into the “Dead” legacy.
