Rogue Review

9 out of 10 Skulls

I Give Rogue 4 out of 5 hairy (amphibious) eyeballs! The aspect that impressed me the most was the cinematography. Director of Photography, Will Gibson, captured the Australian setting in such an artistic way. It was gorgeous!

Next were the excellent creature effects. They were better than the effects in Lake Placid, one of my favorite creature features. The way the giganto-croc looked and moved was very realistic. The gore factor was kind of lacking, but it was made up for with tension. About a half hour in the sh** hits the fan (or should I say the Croc hits the boat), and there is some pretty good suspense for the rest of the film.

The acting was decent in the film – by the two main characters, Michael Vartan and Radha Mitchell (I LOVED her in Pitch Black and Silent Hill). I haven’t seen Michael Vartan in anything else, but his performance was damned fine. The rest of the actors did an alright job, but their characters were so annoying I couldn’t wait for them to die. Unfortunately there weren’t as many deaths as I would have liked.
