No Mans Land: The Rise of the Reeker Review
Written by: grimreality
For any that have seen Reeker and thought it was a true waste of time and was very disappointed in the whole concept then you may actually like this movie. I have to admit I hated the first installment of thise series. The first movie was such a disappointment that I had extremely low standards going into this film and that may have helped for the great reviews I believe this movie deserves.
The saying goes that sequels are never as good as the original and there has to be an exception to that rule to make it true. Well Reeker 2 is the exception that proves the rule. The movie opens a bit weird and I will not tell what happens as I do not want to ruin anything for you, really hate when people give away a movie in the review. The movie itself is spread out over 30 years or so, the beginning being in the past and then quickly jumping to present day.
The movie still takes place around the same area as the original, a lone motel on a strech of highway in a non-descript area of the US. I don't know if I would give the movie high marks for any individual area as nothing really stood out as being of great quality but combined this movie is quite enjoyable. There is one specific line in the movie stated by the stereotypical blonde which ruined the character for me.
The ending of the film which leaves the story open for a third installment was good and I would actually lile to see this played out in part 3. All in all if you have a couple of hours during which you want to watch a film that has no need for brain activity and some good kill sequences then this is definitly up the line for what you are looking for.
