Anthropophagus(1980) Review
Written by: RIP
Here is another giallo from 1980 which I bought recently on amazon called Anthropophagus which is also known as The Grim Reaper. I bougt the new 2 disc edition of it and finally watched it.
The film was directed by Joe D'Amato who helmed such films as Beyond the Darkness, Zombie 5: Killing Birds, and Abusrd.
The film is about a group of friends who are taking a small vacation on the seas on their yacht and come across a small island which everyone in town seems to have just disappeared.
Well there is a reason for the disappearance of the village and soon the 7 group of friends start getting killed off by some crazy cannibal who lost his family at sea and has a terrible secret himself to his insane acts of murder.
The film stars George Eastman(who starred in Zombie 6: Monster Hunter, Deliruim, and Erotic Nights of the Living Dead) who not only plays the part of the killer but also wrote the script for the film along with Joe D'Amato.
The film also stars Tisa Farrow who was in Fulc's Zombie and Serena Grandi who starred in Deliruim.
The film has about 9 or 10 kills in it and is like 88 minutes long and a few of the kills in it are decent. The setting of the film on the island is beautiful and I liked the music in it and plot for it.
The film could have been alot better imho and had better actors .
I give it a 6 out of 10 rating.
