Dawn of the Dead Review

My first gore film ever, i remember the night i rented it and watched it. I was astounded by what was pulled off in 1978. The movie is another one of George's metaphors (consumerisation or something like that) but it was the fact that i understood it the first time i watched it that was great.
Basically the story centers around two SWAT team members and two people that work at a TV station that decide to hold up in a shopping mall after they see society collapse out from under the thin ice. The movie first sets you off in a TV station where everything sort of gets explained as far as what was going on. Fran wakes up from a dream to discover that her TV station is leaving up old rescue stations in order to keep the viewers watching. She puts an end to this problem when her friend Stephen comes in and says "We're getting out tonight." After a short little conversation between them we are taken to an apartment complex that the Police have gotten surrounded. We are now introduced to Roger, but before we know it someone starts shooting. After several little shooting incidents they finally get into the building and all Hell breaks loose. Wooly goes apeshit (and thanks to Mr. Savini) and blows the head off of an unexpected apartment member.
Now the movie just takes off in a direction of zombies getting blasted and awesome special effects. But whilst the acting wasn't too good I still give them a 10 for trying. The acting worked it didn't matter, other people said it was bad but i said it worked. And at no point in the movie was i dissastisfied with the SFX. Even though Taso has some of the cleanest intestines i've ever seen in my life.
Now George had an awesome script. I've read it cover to cover several times and it is awesome. Lots of metaphors sticking around and such. It was shot awesome as well. Something that i like to do is watch really bad cuts of the movie and then watch the remastered version but i like them both strangly enough. Mr. Gornick did a good job of shooting the film. But the music was great on all versions of the film.I had some complaints on the Italian version such as the M16 (even though they were .22's) they sounded pop guns. But the italian version had an awesome rifle sound. Overall i liked Day better but i still love this one. Its the more colorful of the dead series.
