7 out of 10 Skulls

Hatchet is a direct to dvd horror movie that you can really enjoy if you don't take to seriously. It's really funny, has some great kills, and a lot of boobs.

Hatchet is about a group of New Orleans tourist who take a haunted swamp tour and come face to face with local legend and deformed madman Victor Crowley, who is played by Kane Hodder(Jason Vorhees). Victor Crowley has been deformed his whole life and is terrified of other people because they constantly make fun of him. But on one halloween night some kids start throwing fire works on the front porch of his house trying to get him to come out so they can laugh at him, but in the process they set his house on fire and Victor is trapped inside. His dad comes home and sees that the house is on fire so he grabs a hatchet and begins to chop at the door. He doesn't know that Victor is leaning up against the door trying to get out and accidently hits him in the head with the hatchet killing him. A few years later Victor's dad dies and Victor returns from the grave to kill anyone who comes near his land.

It stars Joel David Moore,Deon Richmond, Tamara Feldman and Mercedes Mcnab. It also features Robert Englund and Tony Todd in a couple of small parts. The acting is pretty bad in some scenes and pretty good in others. Joel David Moore does good through out the movie, and Kand Hodder does a damn good job as Victor Crowley. As well as Robert Englund in his small but funny role.

The best thing about the movie is all of the over the top kill scenes and gore. The gore effects are some of the best I've ever scene and the kills are pretty creative and very painful. The boobs are pretty good too and there are a lot of them. In the first 15 minutes of the movie there is somewhere between 10 to 12 pairs of boobs. I will admit that after a while it does get kind of old . Another reason I like this movie is because of the humor. Deon Richmond and the haunted swamp tour gide make you laugh the whole movie. Even though some of it was not intended to be funny. I also liked the music, esecially the Marilyn Manson song at the beggining.

Overall I give this movie a seven skull rating, mostly because of the great gore effects and great makeup effects of Victor Crowley. So if you if you want to watch a cheesy, funny, gore filled movie than curl up with your woman(or man) and watch Hatchet.
