Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door Review

Oh my god is this not the best horror movie of 2007. Go into this review knowing the seriousness of this movie and that by the end of the movie, I was cold feeling and in a ball on my bed just shaking. This is the second movie to make me sick to my stomach and I actually, don't judge me, called my mom and told her I love her.
This movie is based on a true story. A girl is locked in the basement by her f'd up Aunt, tortured, raped and eventually died from what happened to her.
The Aunt is a severe alcoholic who has tendencies of being lazy. All her boys and the neighborhood boys hang out at her place, watch questionable television, swear, drink beers and smoke cigarettes. Her two nieces parents' die suddenly, so are sent with her. She seems to think all women are dangerous, so is very strict with the girls. Abusing the younger one physically and abusing the older one mentally.
Shit hits the fan and the older girl, Meg, gets locked in the basement. Treated like a prisoner of war, she gets little food a day and barely a wet mattress to sleep on. One thing leads to another and she gets tied up, ganked and blindfolded. The boys sneak down at night and pull her clothes off and look at her naked. At first, Meg wants to tell on the boys, but they let her down so she can move her arms, so it's a trade-off.
Eventually, the aunt, Ruth, allows some of the boys to rape her with Ruth watching and everyone else. The shocking part comes when Ruth, to make sure that Meg doesn't enjoy another man, takes a blow torch to Megs clitoris. That was the scene that made me sick to my stomach because it's done in such a real way. I do believe Ruth carves SLUT on Megs body so every man will know.
Of course, there is a goody goody boy who is friends with everyone who is helping Meg out. He helps Meg kind of escape by bringing in the cops and I do believe killing Ruth.
Meg dies in that basement from the malnutrition and abuse she received over the past week or so.
This movie is really, really well done and is one of my highest recommendations because it's real. You can watch this movie and there are times where it feels like they are just filming it as it's actually happening. I went to buy this from my local Best Buy and it was banned there, then Family Video (they sell used movies cheap) and it was banned there, as well. 15 bucks on Amazon and SOOOOOOO worth it. It's hard to watch it all the time like Halloween or Psycho, but it has a lasting effect.
It's also fun to make someone think this is the comedy of the same name with that hot model, the reactions are priceless!!!!
