Prom Night(2008) Review
Written by: RIP
When I watched Prom Night(2008) I was expecting it to be a remake of the 1980 classic film starring Jamie Lee Curtis but it wasn't and that's what I liked about it so much. Prom Night(1980) and Prom Night(2008) have nothing to do with each other at all besides people getting killed at a prom. The films have 2 different plots for them and characters.
The 2008 film called Prom Night is about a highschool senior named Donna whose family was murdered 3 years before by a psychotic biology teacher at her school who became obessed with her and stalked her. Now it's her senior year and prom night and the insane killer has escaped from a mental asylum and tracks her back to her hometown and starts killing off her friends to get to his obession which is her.
I thought that the film was decently acted and had a good storyline to it. Johnathon Schaech(who was in the Forsaken) did a great job as the pyscho stalker. There were some hot looking ladies in this film too but no T&A. Joshua Leonard(from The Blair Witch Project) has a cameo in it too.
The film has like 10 kills in it but most of them are sorta off screen in a way but it does show some stabbings to people's chest. The film is more of a thriller than it is a gorefest. The killer in the film is sorta more like the real John Hinckley who was so obessed with Jodie Foster that he tried to assasinate President Reagan to impress her back in the early 1980's. Overall, I enjoyed this film and give it a 6.5 out of 10 rating.
