Dance of the Dead Review

4 out of 10 Skulls

Don't believe the hype! If I see one more movie that has a nuclear power plant (Happening,Teeth) I'm going to scream! And Bloody Disgusting says, "one of the best horror comedies of all time"? I think NOT! Yes it does have its moment here and there, I liked the way the zombies just kind of popped out of the ground into a full run sprint, zombies making out in the bathroom as they rip off each others faces, but for the most part this is pretty unfunny stuff.

I think I had seen somewhere too a comment like "makes Carrie look like Pretty in Pink", that's another false hope, it may have been bloody here and there but the effects were pretty awful, watch the limb wielding fight on the lawn. I won't go into a lot of detail as far as the plot goes, I'm sure you know already, but basically as Cosa High prepares for the prom, zombies popup from out of nowhere, the result of the afore mentioned power plant. A small group of teens led, all the stereotypes, cheerleader, nerd, bully, led by our hero Jimmy (Jared Kusnitz) take on the challenge to rid the town and save their fellow teens from being eaten up.

I really thought most of the action was going to take place at the prom but its a good 45 min into it before that happens. Up until then I started to doze off so I grabbed a handful of skittles to give me a sugar rush. Anyway, once they arrive it just wasn't that thrilling, god, and I thought my prom sucked. Granted I give credit to Gregg Bishop for making an attempt and it seemed like the cast had a good time with it but the overall result was just an average "B" movie. Go watch Shaun of the Dead again instead.
