Scanners Review

8 out of 10 Skulls

I have a confession to make-It wasn't until recently that I got around to seeing David Cronenberg's infamous movie "Scanners". Yes, as a horror fan and Canadian, I am ashamed. But now that I've seen the movie in its entirety and not just the 'head explosion' scene, I can breathe a sigh of relief and feel 'cool and accepted' by my peers.;).

So what did I think of this flick? It was good and I hope to hell they don't try and remake it starring "Keanu Reeves" or some other numbnut. The plot revolves around a group of people called 'Scanners' who have extraordinary telepathic abilities.  One such scanner, Cameron Vale, is hired by a researcher to prevent the malevolent scanner Darryl Revok, from declaring war on humanity.

The movie moves along fairly quickly and everything is explained clearly. In terms of acting, Michael Ironside stands out, conveying the arrogant personality of Revok perfectly.  My main complain with this movie was how quiet the dialogue was, I had a hard time hearing what the characters were saying. (Maybe its my TV or I'm deaf, either are a possibility. ;)) So for the original scanners, I give it 8 out of 10.

Uh oh-It looks like they are remaking this flick. Hollywood is truely run by people with no imagination.
