Resident Evil Degeneration Review

8 out of 10 Skulls

Finally got around to watching Resident Evil Degeneration. I was quite concerned going into it since when a film turns to the animated route you sometimes have to pull out the 'oh crap' card. The fact that CAPCOM was behind it though did give me alot of hope. As a big fan of the Resident Evil movies despite their many flaws I am pleased to report that Degeneration although not flawless is definitely a film worth checking out.

A zombie attack brings chaos to Harvardville Airport. Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield who fought the sinister Umbrella Corporation during the Raccoon City tragedy 7 years ago, are back. In high-octane Resident Evil style, they're ready to battle a rogue warrior who is seeking revenge after his family was killed in Raccoon City. The deadly G-Virus is unleashed and a new mutated monster goes on the rampage. Will Claire and Leon be able to terminate the virus before history repeats itself?

First off I have to comment on the Angela character. I wonder if Kate Beckinsale got any royalties for her image being used. When you see the film, and you should.. tell me that she doesnt look exactly like Beckinsale? The 3D work done in this film is something that Capcom and Sony can be proud of. Top of the notch with great work done on the look as well as the mannerisms of the animated characters. At times the world is so well done you will find yourself wondering if you are watching an actual live film.

The action is fast paced and just like we would want their is lots of zombie action. The way the film was done it is not only fast paced and action packed but throw in some fantastic CGI visuals and its a film that John Woo and Spielberg would be proud to put their names on. Granted the animation does at times falter and the characters become wooden and sketchy but for the most part Resident Evil Degeneration delivers the goods. It is a proud new edition to the Resident Evil Movie Franchise and quite frankly I can not wait to see what they do next since it can only get better if they keep making them with this level of quality.
