Pulse 2: Afterlife (2008) Review

Now, let me break it down to everyone loud and clear: DON’T RENT THIS!!! If you see this on the shelf, run. If your loved one picks it up at Blockbuster, turns to you, and says, “Honey, this looks interesting…”, slap it out of their hands, and run. Run fast!!! Run until you are back in your vehicle, and they are looking at you with fear in their eyes, and you turn, apologize from the heart, and tell them that you love them more than life itself, that to watch this movie would surely kill them, and kill the relationship…
This movie is confusing to say the least, because the family (father, mother, daughter) are all not together. The mother is looking for the daughter, the daughter is not there, and the father is trying to find the daughter. In the end, you find out the mother took her life because she was attacked by a ghost from the computer, and now she wants to take her daughter with her. Yep…confusing, since in the movie you don’t want to take others lives, only yours.
So…father find daughter, and they leave to the country where there is no computers…except for father because he’s dumb as a stack of dimes. So, now the dead has a portal to the country and more mayhem comes.
Except, it’s not the “dead” per say, but “dead” as in his wife. You see, in the sequels, the dead are tracking you, looking for specific people and no longer anybody. Weird, wouldn’t you say? Well, for me, I call it lack of originality. Hell, even Jamie Bamber from the new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA couldn’t save this movie.
In the end, the movie was bad, the plot was bad, the idea was bad. Who the hell wrote this thing? Oh, wait, the director wrote it. Well, what has he written…hmmmm, hmmmm, figures. Most of his resume is in sequels that went directly to video. But I liked Mimic 2 & Hollow Man 2…
