My Name is Bruce Review

9 out of 10 Skulls

Some things to note here. My Name is Bruce is a campy b-movie film which has reasonable production values mixed with piss poor monster FX and a cast of questionable characters. On its own its one of the lamest films I have ever seen accept for one major factor.. The Chin... Bruce Campbell. This movie is all about Bruce and for that reason I give it a very high rating of 9 out of 10.

B Movie Legend Bruce Campbell is mistaken for his character Ash from the Evil Dead trilogy and forced to fight a real monster in a small town in Oregon.

Admittedly I can see alot of horror fans seeing the movie as cheap and offering no scares and nothing interesting or new but for me it was both funny and entertaining because it had Bruce. I will watch anything with Bruce in it and a  movie where he plays himself, fighting the undead and makes fun of himself in the process is pure gold.

Admittedly the movie has its highlights and its lowlights but overall its what you can expect from the King of B-Movies. Made on a shoe string budget with a bunch of buddies and a whole whack of horror icons My Name is Bruce is both funny, witty and overly stupid. Its creature is the WORST monster since Alien Apocalypse but you know what... its funny. You laugh at it... you laugh with it and you know deep down that Bruce is laughing along wtih you.

Its meant to be funny so you laugh at it as much as you laugh along with it and I can appreciate that which is what makes this movie so much fun for me. If you are a fan of Bruce and appreciate a good B-Movie this movie is definitely worth checking out. If you are into mainstream horror avoid at all costs. This is by no means a splashy Platinum Dunes Remake. Its fun, its stupid and its Bruce. I loved it.
