Let The Right One In Review

Squeal, squeal like a pig! What a great opening line to this movie. In this flick, we follow blonde hair blue eyed Oscar, a 12 year old boy. Oscar talks to trees. He kind of reminds me of Daeg Faerch's charcter in Zombie's Halloween remake. Our little friend, Oscar, befriends a strange girl with unwashed hair and dandruff. This girl, Eli is a vampire. We find out the hard way when she feeds on a passing man. Delicious!
What really stands out in the early parts of the movie are how it establishes the story. It takes time, not too much, to let us know about Oscar and slowly his relationship with Eli. Tired of being bullied around by the kids at school, Eli instucts Oscar to stand up to the boys picking on him, and he whacks this one kid in the ear, busting him wide open.
Spoilers..... After wiping out almost an entire group of local men and one woman, Eli needs to move out of town. This leaves one of the bullies brother with nothing to stop him from picking on poor Oscar. Of course, Eli comes back and ripes all the bullies to shred, except one of the weaker bullies. Then we have a happy ending on a train. The end
After the movie ended, I just feel really great about what I just watched. The movie was a great vampire story. We have love and suffering, just like all classic vampire movies. The way they built the story was to make you feel for Oscar. The movie is in winter time, so you felt cold. When he smiled, you smiled. It was an unbelievable experience for me and I am so happy to share that with all of you. Please go rent this or buy it. I bought it without seeing it, figuring it would be good, and 20 dollars well spent.
Also, the music and the way the movie was drawn out. It's a horror movie, but it's not a jumpy one. They don't have that dramatic music like something is going to pop out because, well, nothing does pop out. It is a very unique movie that I don't see being matched any time soon. This is probably going to be compared to American vampire movie, Twilight. Twilight is crap compared to this movie. I only hope that America doesn't do a remake of this, I would be pissed. Perfect the way it is.
Oh, for those wondering, the movie is Swedish, but is dubbed in English. Lat Den Ratte Komma In is the name of the movie. in Swedish. God, go see it now.
