Shaun of the Dead (2004) Review
Written by: BlackTequilaKiss
This is going to be my VERY first & last short review. My hands are tired and not just from typing up reviews! PLOT: Shaun decides to turn his dull life around by winning back his ex-girlfriend, reconciling his relationship with his mother and fight against the living dead who are intent on eating the living. It'll be a day he'll never forget!
Damn I love this movie! Funny, sweet and gory what more could you ask for! Well Queen on the jukebox just about ticks the final box! This is perfect British horror comedy at its best and remains one of my favourite Edgar Wright films along with Hot Fuzz!
ACTORS: Simon Pegg (starred in Run Fat Boy Run, Hot Fuzz, How to Lose Friends and Alienate People and in upcoming Star Trek film) without doubt a funny actor who has a sharp sense of humour and just works everything beautifully in the movie. Kate Ashford. Nick Frost (starred in Hot Fuzz) absolutely funny man. Brings something different to the screen and wonderful to watch in his roles. Dylan Moran (starred in A Cock and Bull Story & Run Fat Boy Run) to put him simply: blindingly hysterical! In truth every actor in this does a fantastic job!
EVERY OTHER ELEMENT: The music is awesome and with Queen, The Specials, Chicago among others boasting the soundtrack you know you are in for a grand old time! Gore is superb and for such a quintessentially British film it looks so well done! No CGI here just good old fashioned methods that remind me of Dawn of the Dead style killing. Cinematography is awesome, switching between dark and light it adds everything the movie needs and of course the laugh-o-meter. I never stopped laughing that is how good this movie is!
Between Shaun (Pegg) and Ed (Frost) deciding what vinyl’s to throw at the zombie in the backyard to the zombie beat up in the pub, it is glorious from end to start. Funny, furious and fun all the way I cannot recommend this movie highly enough.
Watch this with popcorn, a drink and the lights turned low. The time will fly and you will have so much fun. ABSOLUTELY hilarious and one of the best rom zom com's ever produced in Britain, hilarity prevails! Please watch this and realise what you have been missing out on! Fantastic!
