Jeepers Creepers 2 Review

3 out of 10 Skulls

I said I would do one short review then I decided to watch this movie and I think this will be another shortie due to the fact that it was nowhere near the standards of the original.

PLOT-
Stranded in the mid of nowhere, a schoolbus full of high school basketball players, their coaches and cheerleaders (oh the cliche!) must defend themselves from the Creeper who resurfaces on every 23 years to feed. In the meantime a farmer and his son set out on a personal mission to hunt the Creeper down.

Why oh why did I put myself through this movie again?!
The acting is horribly contrived (aside from one tiny gem), the story is both absurb and steeped in self proclaimed cliches. And it was honestly hard to find any redeeming qualities about the film as an whole.

CAST-
Ray Wise who plays Jack Taggart, Sr. (been in POWDER, DEAD END & GOODNIGHT AND GOOD LUCK, ) he was the best thing about this movie. He has charisma and works magic on the screen. I love him and think he is wholly underappreciated for all the good roles he has done. And that is literally it! lol

My biggest gripe is the woman who played Minxie, seriously why?? She irritated me enough as the goody-goody cheerleader but when she suddenly gets psychic abilities that really pushed me too far! Had the director completely run out of ideas at this point? Shame really because this had so much promise but such a bad script it never worked.

BLOOD & GUTS: Plenty but nothing you have not seen before. Well except for the wings of the Creeper taking off the kid's head. That was pretty neat! But other than that, same old same old.

CINEMATOGRAPHY- This was where my other criticism comes in. In the first JC we don't really see the creeper as much was done in shadows. But in this we see all of him (not quite that much!) but enough to take the mystique away, lose the creep factor. Why did they have to ruin it like this?

Bottom line is where Jeepers Creepers succeeded this just failed. The plot just had no imagination, the characters bar Ray Wise were so irritating you were rooting for the Creeper and it just didn't have any of the trademark of the first one.

The ending is nicely wrapped, well slightly, but it cannot make up for an 99 minute film that drains you literally. My advice steer clear of this sequel which adds nothing and go and rent the original which made Jeepers Creepers the clever little bit it is.

Poor executed, this was one movie I never want to see again. Not worth anyone's time or effort.
