Slaughter is a bad movie that could have been good. Its one of those movies you want to love but its flaws make it impossible. Slaughter is another movie that will go down in history as a promising premise that was poorly executed and went from potential genius to out right bad.
Stewart Hopewell directed Slaughter from a script he co-wrote with Tim Long. The synopsis is as follows; In Slaughter, a young woman thinks she is leaving her abusive life behind when she moves to Atlanta and ends up living at her family farm. She quickly learns that abuse comes in even crueler forms.
The premise as noted is about a young woman who flees her abusive boyfriend only to take up with a girl who is more then she appears. Sure she is hot, super friendly, and likes the night life but she also likes to make mince meat out of her male friends that she brings home from the bar.
Without spoiling the movie in case you choose to see it I have to say that the premise for Slaughter is truly unique and could have bordered on genius if it had been executed properly. Its not your typical slasher film and the story even a spoorly presented as it was just reeks of awesome. It has an interesting angle and a really interesting twist at the end of the film but you literally have to stop and think and GRASP to see the genius of the twist and the real potential this film could have had.
Great acting, an excellent premise and poor execution make Slaughter a movie that is at best a rent. Had it been assembled better and more fluent the film would have been a gem. This film was much more then the tale of a killer hottie it just never found its proper legs or truly outlined what it was really about. So rather then leaving this film feeling disturbed and impressed you leave the film feeling ripped off and let down.
Slaughter could have been so many positive things but unfortunately due to the way the final film came together its really only one thing.. dissapointing.
