Dance of the Dead (2008) Review

Now I do not know any of the actors in this film but I found it fun and very enjoyable and felt they did a great job at their craft. The lead actor was brilliant as the always in detention Jimmy, who drove his work pizza van and was happy with who he was. We meet at the cemetery and the grave-digger has a special knowledge and laid back attitude to his job next to the power plant.. As he digs the graves and checks on the others. This guy retains a quiet cameoesque presence in the film. There are the cheerleaders, the geeks, the sci-fi club, the grunge band members and the vice captain Lyndsey who is Jimmys girlfriend, who is considering an upgrade. Some have dates and others don't.
The sci-fi group visit the graves to try out a sensor to see if can pick up ghosts. Lyndsey goes with another guy who decides to park at the bluff next to the cemetery, but he is as smooth as sandpaper and Lyndsey realises her mistake. Then the zombies rise from the graves and they are great. We even have some shooting out from the grave which is amazing to behold. The sci-fi kids run, Lyndseys date gets decapitated (but that doesn't stop him) and the fun ensues. Jimmy teams up with the school bully and a cheerleader who is wearing earphones and is unaware of these deadly zombies. When will people ever learn.
But they get away and Jimmy is on his way to rescue his girl. They go into the sewers and it is not nice down there, then up to the house where the others are hiding.. While this is going on we have the grunge band who was knocked back for the school dance-though I felt they where pretty good-and much better than the safer alternative. So the guys get stoned, write a song and find their garage is getting a bit smokey so the open the door. Ooops Zombies and no they don't die at that moment.
The interesting people (well they are) decide to save the prom and so in clever ways head for the dance and meet up with the school gym teacher with a love of all things military (everyone comes in handy sometimes) and off they go. Meeting up with the band guys they make their way to the prom. We have a prom dance moment which though a little corny is quite cute. And we even have some zombie love to look out for. So eight severed heads up from me
