9 out of 10 Skulls

"Shut up or die" that's the tagline of pontypool and it couldn't be more appropriate. In this film radio show host DJ Grant Mazzy (Stephen McHattie) goes in for the morning shift at the beacon (AM 660) a radio station in the small northern city of pontypool (it was filmed in and around toronto so it should've been small southern town unless the boundries between northern and southern ontario have been changed lol). Then reports of people attacking everyone around them arrive and grant and everyone don't know if the reports are real or not because they can't get any confirmation from police on whether or not the reports are real or not but the truth soon becomes evident.

Thinking that it's going to be a typical winter morning shift he gets to work with his producer(Lisa Houle) and audio engineer(Georgina Riley).Little does grant know that the day is going to go downhill fast. They get a report about an attack at a doctors office than people start talking in phrases that make no sense and they can't figure out what the words and phrases mean and it is revealed that a virus from certain words that are spoken and so grant and everyone try to figure out how to stop the virus from spreading and find a cure before it's too late. The doctor who's office was attacked shows up to the station and tries to explain how to stop the virus but is he right or not. and not knowing which words could infect people. Do you still broadcast over the radio knowing the words you say might be infecting even more people or do you keep broadcasting to try and figure out how to stop the virus and help people. Those are a few of the questions that everyone have to consider.

While i enjoy the premise you really need to use your mind to try and picture what's going on outside with the people. The action that happens at the radio station is done very well and I think that I really enjoy Stephen McHattie as grant mazzy he really conveys the horror that is going on. The winter setting is a good choice. But i think that it's a film that you'll need to see more than once to try to understand it. I know I'll need to see it more than once not only to try to understand it fully but i really enjoyed this movie. If you get a chance to see it go and see it you won't be dissapointed.
