Aliens (1986) Review
Written by: Gardenofstone10
Many, many times, sequels do not live up to the original film. That can not be said about this sequel. This one is actually better than the original.
Plot: Ripley wakes up 57 years after the events of the first movie to a world that doesn't believe what happened. They believe she was just going crazy and was making up that shit about the aliens attacking her and her crew.
Moments later, THE COMPANY realizes that a colony on the same planet the aliens were at on the first movie, they have lost contact. So, The Company enlists Ellen Ripley to do their bidding and go with a crew of Marines to check out what's happening in this colony.
When the group of Marines get to the colony, they soon discover that 99% of the people have died. The sole survivor is a little girl by the name of Newt. Together, Ripley, Newt, the actor who played John Connor in The Terminator and Bishop survive the whole ordeal.
This movie is packed FULL of nonstop action and a wicked adrenaline rush. The aliens in this movie are bigger and badder than ever. Also in this movie is the first on screen performance of the queen alien. Which in its own respect is badass how they pull off the queen being the most badass of all aliens. It's like a beehive only cooler.
The original was directed by Ridley Scott and this one by James Cameron and that is an all star lineup for success. James Cameron did this movie hot off of The Terminator and that's rare to have two AWESOME movies back to back. I would have to say Aliens is a little better than The Terminator only because Terminator 2 is the best movie ever.
The only other thing I'd like to highlight was the music/score. Here we are on a desolate planet with an alien race killing off any human that dares enter and the music plays right to that. Like I mentioned in my Alien review, it's the music to accompany a lack of hope and being isolated. I guess I'm not the only one to realize that as the score was nominated for an Academy Award (which on a scifi horror film means something).
So whoever is reading this review, my god, if you haven't seen this movie or the original, do yourself a huge favor and just go buy it. If you love Sci-Fi and horror, these are the perfect movies for you. Peace.
