Alien 3 (1992) Review

Here we are, Alien 3. I can't say this one is better than Aliens, but it's a very good follow up and stands on its own in the series.
The plot. We start the movie off days or weeks after the ending of Aliens, with Ripley, Newt, John Connor actor, and Bishop in hypersleep. When the ship detects something disturbing their sleep, it aborts them in a little ship that falls into orbit of a prison planet. The crash kills Newt and Hicks and completely crushes Bishop. Ripley barely survives the crash.
After finding out that an alien is on board, Ripley demands the bodies of Newt and Hicks be cremated. She is able to rest well until people start to mysteriously die. Of course, from then on, Ripley takes over and starts to be the sexy, badass woman we were used to from the previous two films.
Towards the end, Ripley defeats the alien, but with the queen alien growing inside of her, she doesn't want this all to happen again and again (the company wants to take the alien for research). So, Ripley commits suicide, thus ending the Alien series (until the next one where Ripley has a clone, lol).
What made this movie a decent follow up was location and, as I mentioned in the preview two reviews, the music. In the far end of the galaxy is this prison planet that has little to no contact with the main worlds. Isolation right there, especially with a staff of 25 people. Then, the music, makes us feel cold and alone. To me, those two are a perfect setting for a film about survival of the fittest.
My only problem with this film was that about half of the time we saw the alien, it was CGI. Now, I can understand this alien was supposed to be faster and more flexible, but it took away from the film just a little bit, as CGI usually does.
The Alien series is one of the best in sci-fi horror history and each time I watch the movies, they get better and better and better. Do yourself a favor and watch them. Peace.
