An American Werewolf in London Review
Written by: TerrorWatch
Wow let me start, An American werewolf in London is one of the greatest movies Ive ever seen, its entire look, feel and total atmosphere catches you and makes love to you. The movie was released in 1981 and directed by John Landis and tells the story about a man transformation into a werewolf after being bitten while walking on the mores. The story also tells the tale about the struggle the guys goes through as his dead friend keeps appearing warning him about his transformations and his love affair with a nurse. Sounds just a normal movie but no to be
The acting in the movie was OK, nothing great, it want like we seen in Titanic or anything special. The actors was standard, but the movie really didn't need any over, heart felt acting, this is a fun horror movie, let the blood and guts do the talking. The actors in this movie include, David Naughton, Jenny Agutter, Griffin Dunne.
The soundtrack in the movie is great, creepy but also fun, the blue moon music on the credits are great and very cool. The whole movie does actually have good sound, even though its not noticed as well as it should be, it has allot of creepy shocking music and sweet 70's porn music. The scenes in the movie were good, firstly at the mores and then onto London.
The London scenes i loved as its great to see a big werewolf in urban London, it also helps a movie when you know the place your seeing, it makes it more cool and gives more of a realism to it. The mores, what i can i say, creepy, very creepy and more creepy but very boring and shitty. The special effects in this movie are wild, the year is was made is very old to now but still the effects are excellent to todays standards. The werewolf looks so big and so terrifying, it does not look fake what so ever. The cuts and blood and gore were also great, the guys half neck totally rocked! Through out the movie there was no shortage of blood which is cool, as its horror, not even in a porn cinema they was no shortage!!! Overall there was so much blood, allot of cool scary moments and a just the right amount of werewolf on screen to not make it look like a household pet.
My choice parts in the movie are, the sex sense with that lovely girl in it, the porn cinema and in that strange pub. Theres no much to enjoy in this movie but i cant type them all down. The pub scene was really cool for me, it was so strange and it was a locals people pub that hid the secret. That was the main meeting place for them and when two strangers walk in you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. The sex scenes are great, allot of tits and allot of ass, the girl, Jenny Agutter is so sweet there, shes cute and firm which in turn makes me firm so its all good. The porn cinema rocked as you see a bit of cool spoof 70's porn but allot of dead people appear in really cool death makeup. The cinema turns into a morgue and is ultimately brilliant to see them shouting out the werewolf and telling him to kill himself.
Overall this movie rocks, one of my best in my collection and it makes a change because some parts are very scary indeed. This movie was very successful and a true horror movie fan will always say this is one of his or her all time faves. This movie also made another movie, American werewolf in Paris, this movie was a spin off from London and shows Davids daughter in full action. This movie wasn't a let down either so go check both of them out today.
