Anthropophagus Review

7 out of 10 Skulls

This is one, i believe, of the more notorious of the video nasties. The video nasties were a list of movies that were once banned in the UK, but that is a different story. Anthropophagus, althought somewhat hard to say, was a fun and enjoyable, partly cheezy, ride.

The movie starts off as almost a rip off of Jaws where a women is attacked and killed in the water, I was almost dissapointed seeing this after hearing this movie was so gory of stuff, and being the sick person I am, this movie started off on the wrong foot. It shows nothing in the beginning but does show a good knife to face in the beginning that redeemed the Jaws rip off. The movie starts off somewhat tame then gets real nasty, to others (not me :P), when the Anthropophagus or Grim Reaper, begins killing again.

The movie follows a group of people giving a girl a ride to an island, I forget where (its been a while), and when they arrive on the island they find it deserted and not a single person in sight. They begin to get worried and they have a wounded person on their boat so they don't want to take to long. After people start missing the group begins to worry, they get back to their boat and the wounded girl and the driver are missing and then they are approached by a misterious, ugly, person who turns out to be The Grim Reaper, but they dont' say that.

Now from my explanation above, which may be alittle wrong cause I havn't seen this in awhlie, you know the basic idea of the movie. There is more to it but this will get you started or interested.

Now to the review of the movie. The movie was good, gory, and fun and it would be good to watch if you love gore, baby eating :P, and old music that is awesome. OR if you are collecting the video nasties like me. This movie is hard to get into because I really wasn't watching it for the story or, god no, the acting I was watching it for the gore, music and atmosphere, and it delivers on all of those. This movie is great if you want a gory movie to have and watch. Not to much else to say. 7/10!
