The Voice Inside Review
Written by: TERRORWATCH
The Voice Inside came to me in the spring time 2005 in a screen package all the way from New York. OK I looked it up on the net and realised that this was a short movie that won many awards from film festivals, I opened the case. Directed by Biff Juggernaut it gives us a twisted tale about a man, or victim hearing possessive "voices inside", slowly he starts beating and cutting himself naked. Very extreme i thought but it was very stylised and pulled of well. Anyway after taking the DVD out of the player i was left with a little pleased grin on my face telling me that i did actually enjoy the short movie.
I thought it was going to be some dudes attempt to get into the film business with producing any old rubbish but this movie even though didn't look special had something there that caught my eye. OK for one the short movie that lasts around 13 min has one cast member in it, played by Elias, he played a Victim/Antagonist plagued by voices inside his head. He does pull it off well and his screams do shiver down my spin but the only problem i had that his little skinny body made me want to puke. But his twisted little body added to the weirdness to this movie and as he hurt and hurt his body twisted and shook more. The movie did include a voice that made the Exorcist, Reagen voice sound like some play school child. Damn the voice was cool and actually creepy, the one thing id of suggested that some places it went on a bit and it was like listing to a mumbling fool in the background. However the screams and high pitched shouts from the unknown thing was excellent and added to the overall scary factor.
OK no CGI, very low budget and of course shot in black and white the director had a job to make this look good,he did to my surprise. Cleaver shots and short quick frames were the ticket to this movie to make it look cool.Very creative scenes lit up the whole movie, it was just a crying shame this movie wasn't in colour. However weget to see a head banging causing the victim to bleed like crazy. We also see a few things hitting his head and the impressive, "Hammer up the ass" scene. Very gory at times and a horror fans delight to see it, extreme was cool for once because the lame movies that we get at the moment don't satisfy me. For all the girls and gay guys out there we also get treated to a bit of on screen cock, that really wasn't for my and not my tastes but I'm guessing the ones out that with the cock taste would love it. There was no sound really in the movie just the screams of the man and the devils voice, no background music, fair to say the short movie didn't really have anything in to impress me but i like the quality's in the movie enough to award it a high score. Simplicity mixed with extreme toucher and something for us horror fans out there makes this movie a good one.
