A young brother and sister, Yu and Ami are living on their own after their parents committed suicide. On day Yu and his friend are killed after a run in with a young gang of hooligans, lead by a son of a Yakuza lord. Ami wants revenge on all of those that killed her brother so she goes after those that are responsible. She loses an arm in the process. Afterwards she becomes allies with an unlikely couple and they help her train and fit her with a machine gun for an arm. Now Ami wants to finish what she started earlier.

I’ve read some reviews that have complained about this movie for it’s silly plot and poor character development. For those people that say stuff like that, I just have to say that you should really know better than to expect good plot and character development in these types of movies. Myself I go into these films without focusing on those things and focusing on the entertainment factor. I was highly entertained throughout this movie.

Haven’t seen any of Noboru Iguchi other films but I thought he did a nice job on this movie. He kept the film going and with lots of nice camera angles and movement. It moved along at a nice fairly fast pace and I felt that it never bogged down anywhere. They managed to keep my interest throughout the movie and sometimes that is hard to do.

As far as acting goes I’ve always found it hard to judge Asian acting and whether or not they are overacting or not. But none of that really matters in a movie like this. I thought all the acting fit pretty well with the movie. Minase Yashiro, who played the lead role of Ami, did a fairly good job considering this is her first ever film.

The real point of THE MACHINE GIRL is the fights and blood, and there are plenty of both. The fights are nothing really special but they are fun to watch. Yeah, some of the gore effects are fairly cheesy, but that’s what this movie is all about. I don’t expect top dollar gore effects in this. I loved some of the things that they came up with. There was a lot of geyser blood shower stuff going on here. Some of it reminded me of the time I went to a GWAR concert years ago. I loved all the cheesy goodness.

Overall I found THE MACHINE GIRL to be a very highly entertaining movie. There’s blood, Yakuza lords, ninja’s, sword play, machine guns, chainsaws, a giant flying guillotine and a drill bra!! What the hell is there not to love about all of that?? The only thing that would have made this movie better would be if we could see a little boobage from Minase Yashiro or Honoka, she played the Yakuza dude’s wife and was pretty damn hot. Check this one out for a funny good time.
