Splinter Review

I waited and waited and waited to see this movie. I heard all these good things about it but it was never in a theater near me, it was a limited release that only played in like New York and stuff. No where near me. So I waited and it never came out on DVD, but then it was gunna be released on DVD and I was waiting to rent it or buy it or something. But then I was at the Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors and they were having a screening for this movie and I was like, "Yeah...We gotta see this." and we did. AND IT WAS GREAT!!!!
Splinter is about a couple who get pulled over by these two psychos or muggers or whoever, I think they are on the run from the police or something, and they tell them to drive and keep driving to get them out of harms way. They hold them at gun point and they are taken to a gas station to fix their car after hitting an animal and having their car almost over heat. But when they arrive at the gas station they are attacked by this zombie thing or something and they find out that it was this creature taht caused it and it you touch the creature you get a splinter it infects you and changes you. They have to fight to survive in the gas station and find a way to escape without dying.
This movie was great, it was very original and very gory and cringe worthy to some, not me :P. I saw this movie with my brother and his girl friend and there is a scene when they have to break off someone's arm with a cinder block and it is sooooo fucking kewl and my bro's GF looked away lol but the scene was awesome and everyone in the place was laughing and having a great time watching this movie. Speaking of the crowd I got to watch this movie sitting about 5 seats away from Director Toby Wilkins which was pretty kewl, I wish I would have asked him what he felt to these people's reactions. But it was a really fun ride and interesting and highly original movie, which is rare in horror now adays because its mostly all remakes or japanese rip offs or sequels. But there are movies like this that give us hope for the future.
THis movie was great and you should see it if your a fan of horror, which if your on this website you are. 8/10!!!!
