Midnight Movie (2008) Review

At the behest of Garden, I decided to give this movie a try. That makes him 1 of two, after having me watch the travesty that was The Town that Dreaded Sundown (But that's a different review, check it out here )
If I were a man of few words, I would just say that this is really just a popcorn horror movie. Honestly, in the aspects of horror, it fell kind of short to me, but it was a fun ride, which gives it a few points.
For those of you who don't know, the movie is basically about a group of people trapped in a movie theater being whittled down by a killer that comes out of the movie that they're watching. Yes, it sounds like something that Lloyd Kaufman would have made. But even The Toxic Avenger was awesome, so fuck you naysayers.
On the one hand, it wasn't particularly scary. On the other hand, it was shot very well, had some decent acting, and has a pretty good story. For a popcorn movie, the depth of these characters were pretty amazing. The FX were pretty cool, but the killer's weapon was pretty hokey. It was the sort of movie that struck me as being comical without intending to. It's one of those movies that shows how bereft of idea Hollywood is, yet still manages to not be an utter load of crap.
The dialogue was standard horror fare, and for the most part was pretty nondescript. There's not really much to say about this movie, other than it could have been better, but definitely could have been worse.
