Hatchet Review
Written by: Googopqp
Hatchet is a slasher in the true spirit of the 80's. This movie really does it right. Not only is the movie kewl in that aspect but it also offers great gore and one of the greatest decapitations I've ever seen.
Hatchet is about two friends at Mardi Gras and one of them decides he's bored with seeing tits all day, queer, and drags his friend along on this haunted boat tour. On the tour the boat crashes and them are all standed somewhere and must find a way back. While this is happening you hear about the legend of Victor Crowley and these are his woods and he kills anyone in his woods. But of course the people, except for one, don't believe that. Then they see Victor Crowley with his hatchet kill two old people and they all lose their shit! Now they have to find a way to get out of the forrest without getting killed. :D
This movie also has great appearances by Robert Englund (Freddy Kruger), Kane Hodder who plays Victor Crowley and his dad (Jason in most), and Tony Todd (Candyman) all have appearances. This killer is also pretty bad ass, he just bursts out in front of people and destroys them like their nothing. He uses all sorts of tools as well, like a hatchet, his bare hands, a belt sander, a shovel, and so on. This movie is great fun and gory, and pretty funny too.
Director Adam Green grew up watching movies like this so it only fits that he make one. And he did and it is amazing.
The features on this DVD are pretty good, but nothing to much, they include a pretty funny commentary track with director and some stars, and a making of, and behind the scenes type stuff, but the features are real fun to watch.
THis movie is great for all slasher fans and gore fans, this movie was great. Hatchet is true old school American horror and its one of the best slashers in the past decade. 9/10!!!!!
