Return of the Living Dead Review

Return of the Living Dead is basically a sequel to Night of the Living Dead. Dan O' Bannon and George A. Romero each created Night of the Living Dead and they went their seperate ways in making zombie films. Dan O' Bannon went with this movie and he hit a homerun with this one mixing zombies, stripping, and fun into one with a great memorable song in the back.
Return of the Living Dead is about a canister holding a dead body that is unwittingly opened by two night shift employees at a storage place. When the canister is opened it sprays this weird poison in the employees' faces and spreads all over. It re-animates one of the corpses being stored there and so the two employees call the owner, played by Clu Gulager who is a horror hero to some. Meanwhile one of the employees friends show up and mess around in the cemetery not knowing what is going on. When Clu Gulager arrives they open up the storage room where the screaming corpse is and they do what they think they should do and destroy the brain, but that doesn't work. These zombies are unable to be killed unless you destroy EVERYTHING. So they bring the body over to the mortician so he can put it into the cremitorium, spelled wrong, and burn the body. But what they don't know is the smoke goes out the chimney and causes it to rain all over the cemetery. So now the employees, the mortician, and the friends are in the middle of an entire cemetery being re-animated with the living dead hungry for brains.
Thats is basically the first half hour of the movie and then a whats gunna happen next type thing. But anyways this movie is very fun and pretty gory and is just a classic zombie movie from the 80's. There is also the famous stripping scene that we all gotta love :D....lol.
ROTLD I have to admit I didn't care for it the first time I saw it. I felt is was dumb and I didn't like the idea of zombies talking and stuff like that. But then on the second watch this movie is just awesome and it grew on me. Especially the begining of the movie when the gas is let out, that music just fits so well with the movie!
The gore in this movie is good and you see some nastyness with brains fall out and being eaten and half eaten heads and what not. But what is really awesome is some of the make up for the zombies is just so funny in a way, how does a person just attacked by zombies appear all white? and evil? Idk but its funny and kind of kewl.
The people in this movie are fun and enjoyable characters some of which you care for and some of which make you laugh. The movie has good character development for the most part and the acting is okay....not so great at times though but thats not a big impact on the movie. This movie was meant to be a fun little gory zombie movie almost like a sequel to Night of the Living Dead and it is, it wors and its a classic!
This movie I would recommend to probably everyone especially if you like classic zombie movies. This movie was great and loads of fun! I give Return of the Living Dead n 8/10!!!!
