Zombie aka Zombi 2 Review

Lucio Fulci's 70's zombie classic still looks amazing to this day. This is arguably Fulci's best movie, and best zombie movie he has done. This movie kicked ass and you need, NEED, to see this if your a zombie movie fan!
Zombie aka Zombi 2 is about an isolated island where these two couples travel too that turns out to be infested with zombies. There a doctor/scientist or whatever on the island with his wife and he tries to stop it from spreading or something. Really this movie is just a zombie movie on an island and it looks great. I can't really explain the story, srry, but I can explain the movie.
This movie has GREAT gore and the zombie make-up looks extremely realistic at points. There is also the infamous splinter in the eye scene in this movie and involves no cut aways, it shows everything!!!!! Just the way I like it. This movie doesn't shy from the gore nor does it rely on it too much. This movie was nearly perfect, except for being pretty slow at points.
This movie starts off with its amazing 70's score and then on a boat where two police, or water patrol whatever, investigate and they get attacked by a fat zombie and one of them is bit in the neck and its pretty bloody. This is just a beginning, that bite doesn't look too good and the make-up for that zombie is just alright, but later on in the movie the gore and make-up basically double in quality and looks amazing.
I'm gunna admit I didn't enjoy this movie the first time I watched it and that's probably because I was an ignorant little 11 year old brat who didn't like the atmosphere or the stupidity of some of the characters. And yes one of the characters is extremely stupid, I'll give a hint the girl who is standing there watching a zombie rise out of the ground for about an entire minute then gets killed.....But the movie grew on me and I love it! Who couldn't like a zombie fighting a shark? I mean come on....Who?
This movie is a classic and still to this day looks amazing. I would recommend this movie to all zombie movie fans or Lucio Fulci fans. THis movie is great and very gory and has a memorable score and a good atmosphere. I give Zombie, or Zombi 2 the supposed sequel to Dawn of the Dead, a 9/10!!!!
