8 out of 10 Skulls

In this 80's childrens horror film a loveable all american family is one day traumatized by an evil unknown spirit. After the family's youngest daughter is taken by this spirit they call in the paranormal investigators to help get her back. Will the family succeed or will the spirits of the dead keep her forever?

Well that is a short little summary of the film that doesn't touch the many subjects like the loveable-isnisity(?) of the family. They are a fun family with a dog that eats stuff in the middle of the night. They comprise of the mom, dad, and 2 daughters and a son. Just your normal run of the mill family and you love them, but when the youngest daughter goes missing you begin to feel alittle bad for them.

Anyways this movie was very well done and lots of fun. Actually this movie delivers its scares better then most serious horror film out now adays, without MUCH of the typical cliches, this movie picks the right moments to butt in and spook you. It delivers very well and people who jump easily will get some in here. This movie is also good for the whole family, without being over the top gory, except for maybe one scene (peeling face), and not being too scary to scar the children this movie makes the perfect little haunting to watch with kids.

This movie was directed by horror legend Tobe Hooper, who directed the infamous horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, its sort of weird that he went from killer psycho family to silly family horror. But no this movie isn't too silly and but is still a fun little flick. This is also produced by Steven Spielberg and that shows with some cheezy special effects, that today look really fake but at the time that was the big budget effect lol (idk if its CGI but its an animated effect).

This movie is definitely worth watching but its not the most perfect film, at points it gets alittle boring but is great regardless. And it also has, well apparently one of the top Horror Vixens, Mrs. Hotty herself(?) (WTF?) Zelda Rubinstein....idk...:P But this movie is great and loads of fun and is a must for horror fans, don't be put off just because its PG because that doesn't matter. This movie is a classic and has the line, "They're Here!" how can you go wrong? I give Poltergeist n 8/10!!!!
