Cannibal Holocaust(Uncut) Review
Written by: Suspiria_89
The following Motion picture contains intense scenes of extreme violence and cruelty. As distributors of this film, we wish to state with absolute sincerity that by no means do we condone the artistic decisions employed by the makers of this film. However, as firm believers in the constitutional right of free speech, we do not believe in censorship.
That is what it says right before the movie begins. After reading this, you know you are about see a movie that you will not forget about for a long time. And thats exactly what happens. Cannibal Holocaust is a masterpiece, simply because nothing like it will ever be made again. Which might be a good thing.
Is Cannibal Holocaust the most disturbing movie ever made? I doubt it, but it's definately one of the most disturbing. The first truly disturbing scene is a very brutal and disgusting rape scene in which a woman is raped with a piece of concrete(it's actually a piece of wood, but it looks like concrete) This scene is by far the most brutal rape scene ever filmed(IMO) even though it doesn't last very long. Their are also a couple of other rape scenes in the movie, but none of them are as unforgettable as the first. The gore effects in this movie are simply amazing. Their is one scene in which a man is bitten by a snake, in an attempt to stop the venom from reaching his heart the other crew members saw off is leg. This scene is probally my favorite horror movie scene of all time, it's incredibly awesome. And of course I have to meniton the infamous impaling scene, which is very realistic looking. The acting is also pretty good and the script is well written, and the score is absolutey haunting.
The biggest complaint I hear about this movie is the real animal deaths. I have to admit that those scenes didn't offend me at all. Being from Alabama, me and my family hunt and kill animals all the time. I'm not saying I like animal cruelty, because I don't. But their is nothing wrong with killing a wild animal if you're going to eat it. No one complains when Survivorman does it on national T.V., so whats the diffrence?
Bottom Line is that Cannibal Holocaust is a great horror movie and one of the most brutal and disturbing movies ever made. But I can't recommend it to everyone, and I understand if you don't want to watch. If you do watch it and you become horrified at what you see, just keep telling yourself........It's just a movie, or is it?
