Halloween(1978) Review
Written by: Suspiria_89
When Halloween was released in 1978 in literally had people jumping out of their seats. It is without a doubt one of the best horror movies ever made. It gave birth to one of horrors most famous villains and spawned seven sequels and a remake. I have seen it at least twelve times and I still feel the same way about it today as I did the first time I saw it. It has stood the test of time.
Plot: When Michael Myers was just five years old he brutally murdered his sister and was locked up inside of a mental hospital. Now, after escaping from the hospital, he has returned to his home town to reek havoc amongst the towns teens.
If I could only have one horror movie for the rest of my life, Halloween is the one I would choose. It’s damn near a perfect movie. The atmosphere is amazing and the score is haunting and unforgettable. The performances by Donald Pleascence(Dr. Loomis) and Jamie Lee Curtis(Laurie) are some of the best ever given and the directing is fantastic. The ominous camera movements(which Carpenter said he got from Black Christmas) are great and help to make the movie more creepy. Halloween also has one of the best chase scenes ever filmed.
Like I have already said, Halloween is almost perfect. So I only have one complaint. The kills. The kills are basically bloodless. But this isn’t really a big deal in the case of Halloween because everything else is perfect.
Halloween will always be considered one of the best and most important horror movies ever made. I’m pretty sure every member of this great site has seen this movie but if you have not you need to stop reading this review and go buy a copy right now.
