Hellboy 2: The Golden Army Review
Written by: Ash's missing hand
Hellboy 2 is every bit the equal of the first Hellboy. The love Guillermo Del Toro has for bizarre fantasy and evil machines shines through here very brightly.
Hellboy's adoptive father (John Hurt) tells him a legend as a child about an ancient battle between humans and pretty much everybody else. A truce was reached in which the humans got the cities and the trolls got the forests. But humans have been tearing down the forests to expand their cities which is in breach of the truce. Prince Nuada (Luke Goss) defies his father, the king, and wants to start the conflict anew. It would involve awakening the Golden Army. His twin sister, Princess Nuala, is against his decision.
Hellboy (Ron Perlman) and his team fight for the human side. The team members include Abe Sapien (Doug Jones), a fish-man. Liz Sherman (Selma Blair) can generate fire. Johann Kraus (Seth McFarlane), a tough to describe advisor. Princess Nuala (Anna Walton) also joins the team. Tom Manning (Jeffrey Tambor) doesn't really figure into the movie.
