The gore fest Video nasty classic from the 80's, The Evil Dead is a masterpiece for the horror community and is masterfully done for a first film, directed by Sam Raimi. Bruce Campbell, who is now a horror legend, stars in this movie and gets his name out there with his kick ass bad ass character Ashley...or Ash. lol

The Evil Dead is about a group of friends going up to a cabin in the woods for a little get away. While there weird things happen and they find a book , which turns out to be the Necronomican, spelled horribly wrong lol, and when they bring up a tape recording reciting the pages of the book something strange arises in the woods. Some of the friends become possessed and know the survivors must either kill them or keep them from sight, before themselves get possessed by evil.

This movie was very well done and stands the test of time. The gore effects are cheezy and kewl at the same time, they even use clay or something for the end sequence.

Evil Dead is the least humorous or slapstick of the three movies but still offers some very black humor in it tahts just plain funny at points lol, if you have that type of humor to yourself.

Now to the gory stuff :D, this movie is very gory but also pretty unrealistic looking. But it still offers some very memorable scenes and Bruce cuts off his girlfriend's head with a shovel like it was nothing, thus proving how bad ass he is :D. There are some great gags in this movie as well, like when a body is chopped up into tiny pieces the pieces are all still moving, stuff like taht. The clay effects look extremely unrealistic and I think thats why I love them, its not a big budget movie its its own movie, and its very original.

Evil Dead IS a classic and an almost perfect movie. It has a love aspect to it and offers stuff for everyone, especially the fans of horror and gore. This movie delivers the scares and the squirts and deserves its high ranking 9/10!!!!
