REC is the movie that the now popular Quarantine remade and people always say REC is so much better and is much better, when really they are both the same movie and shot for shot. But I liked REC better for a few reasons. REC had a cast taht wasn't familiar, you don't know who these people are and really you don't know who may or may not be expendable. You don't have the guy from Hostel who you want to see die again in a movie you now have some guy you've probably never seen, which I liked, no one you can already relate you you are introduced to the characters. The second reason would be that it seems REC, being in a different language, gives the movie a better and creepier feeling because your reading the whole movie and trying to pay attention to whats going on, you don't get lazy during the movie, so your paying attention more is what I'm saying. REC has a creepier little child, thats all I gotta say, the little girl in this was pretty weird in a way and was perfect. THis last one may just be me but it seems REC wasn't trying to get everything in the shot, or they weren't trying to draw your attention anywhere, almost like the people didn't know what was about to happen, like when the guy jumps off the stairs its shot so you don't see that coming and therefore its a better scare or jump for the audience, not me :P, where as Quarantine didn't do that as well, but that may jsut be me. Plus REC wasn't a remake and stealing from others.

Anyways, REC is about a TV news team who are trying to get a story so they go to a firefighter station, fire department whatever XD, and they interview the  firefighters and wait for the alarm to go off to show what they really do at night when everyone is sleeping. THey do get a call but its not for a fire its for a women screaming in an apartment. When they get there this old women bites a cop. The cop is bleeding bad but when they try to get him out of the building they can't. The police have closed the apartment building from the outside and no one can leave. No one inside knows why but they are now quarantined, ;D, in the building and can't get out. They find out it has something to do with an infection that causes the people to go crazy basically, so now the people in the apartment building, including the film crew, must get out alive, but any bite will change them.

This whole movie is shot through the camera man's point of view, so in a first person look. I like movies that are shot this way because its kewl lol. REC uses this very effectively and to its own style and it works well. THe only part of this movie I don't really like is this creature thing at the end of the movie, it just looked dumb :/. But the story of this movie and the people's reactions to whats going is really good and makes this movie seem real and like your actually watching this happen to real people. But of course the end kind of changes that for you. I'm not saying the end is bad I'm just saying it takes away form the realism of this movie.

REC is a really good movie and superior to Quarantine, but on the DVD for REC (released in the US) it says the movie that inspired Quarantine, which I feel is retarded putting this movie shouldn't be compared to Quarantine, Quarantine should be compared to REC.

REC is not a gory movie by any means and there isn't much blood, but that all really jsut makes the movie more real in a way. In reality we don't see blood baths we see some bleed if anything. But in this movie it doesn't show everybody dying or being bitten or whatever, it just shows what the camera sees, and then the camera man runs and its over. Its hard to explain in a way...

Overall REC is a great movie that works very effectively and gives a great deal of realism to it. I feel people should go out and see this movie and not Quarantine, unless you want to compare the two, but REC is superior in its styles and ways. I give REC n 8/10!!!!
