Jason X (2001) Review

Here we are.....the final frontier...SPACE.  Quick plot: Ignoring the last movie where Jason was physically dragged to hell, this one starts off with Jason in captivity, for a moment.  He is lured into a cryofreeze chamber where he is frozen for all of time.....

....that is until college kids from Earth 2 come back to Earth 1 and do a science project on Crystal Lake.  Confused by his new surroundings on a spaceship, Jason quickly comes to and takes control.  Killing everyone and anything that gets in his way, Jason may have finally met his match in Kay-Em 14, a cyborg. 

Thrown on a healing and repair table, Jason is repaired into UBER JASON!!!!  Half monster half machine, Uber Jason is unstoppable.  Until badass black guy takes him outside and they both burn up in Earth's atmosphere, falling into Crystal Lake. 

This movie worked because it gave Jason a new and improved killing ground.  With simulations and future gadgets, he adapts to a way that makes gore hounds like myself very, very happy.

One of the coolest Friday kills comes from this movie too.....when Jason wakes up on the spaceship, he crams this girls face in liquid nitrogen, automatically freezing her face, then smashes it on the table, shattering her face everywhere.  Very beautiful. 

Sad to the series fans, this was Kane Hodder's last role as Jason as he was beat out in the following two movies. 

Given the ULTRA cheesiness of this film, I can't say i'd highly recommend it, but I do own it and watch it from time to time.  Give it a watch.  Peace.
