Saw Zombiez last night. I thought the acting was fine. The music was servicable enough. I'm not a fan of rap but the music worked for me, although it was repeated way to often. The bit of nudity was gratutious and soo short if you're gonna just throw it in for no reason show us something. The chicken costume was just stupid as was the fight choreography.
My real beef is with the plot (which was paper thin), with the cinematography (too many useless reverse shots and fuzzy or shaky camera work and no visible attempts at cinema lighting), and the special effects (you're pulling intestines out of his shirt, we can see the stomach is undamaged and the cleavers are plastic). They should have pulled back and hide the gore rather than do it half-assed.
The general effect of this movie is of someone who is not into zombie movies trying to capitalize on the latest trend. Maybe they were trying to reinvision zombies but that didn't really work for me because the zombies didn't seem dead, near dead, almost dead or anything. If the bad guys were some wacky cult instead of Zombies (and all of the expectations involved) it would have been better, but then it wouldn't have sold as well.
