[rec] (2007) Review

I would really hate to start my review off this way, but I have to be honest.....I liked Quarantine better than Rec...and I NEVER say that.  Maybe it didn't help that I saw Quarantine first.....but still, this is a far less amazing movie. 

We all know the plot: News reporter follows around the night shift of a fire station.  They are called into an apartment building.  They all get locked in.  People get infected and start killing everyone off one by one by one.  Movie ends very gloomily. 

I absolutely love Manuela Velasco and think she's very pretty and hot, but she just seemed to overact in this movie.  I didn't believe anything she put out. 

Same can be said about the rest of the cast.  Their acting and reacting was laughable at best. 

For being a smaller budget Spanish flick, I was extremely impressed with the graphics and effects.  One scene in particular stands out in my head about when the doctor injects one of the guys with something and it goes right below his eye.  It's a close up shot.  Very detailed and with that said, very believable because it did not look like makeup at all. 

All in all there were some saving points of this movie especially to those out there who love their gore (like me) so I would recommend you at least watch this movie.  Most video places have it to rent and I'm sure FearNet will have it for free soon enough.  Peace.
