Prom Night Review
Written by: Godzilla_Rules
Released in 1980 Canada’s Prom Night rode the new wave of slasher films and has managed a sort of weird cult status. Prom Night is a movie about a bunch of teens (kelly, Jude, Wendy, Nick) that is hiding a major secret. Sometime in the past they were involved in the death of a little girl that fell of a ledge of a building ither in or near an old convent. It was an acident but the kids feared they will be blamed and held responsible so they vowed to keep it a secret. Aparently there was another whitness they did not know about and the kids get tormented by strange phone calls and notes from the mystery person and they get scared. During prom they get stalked by a mysterious stalker and they die one by one.
I am all for teen slasher flicks but has not this story been done one too many times? Like how many stories out there have the same theme? I guess I can not fault this film for it was probably one of the first and it was many films that came afterwards that had the same theme.
Even though this movie is out of date and you got that funky 70's look going on it still is a better movie with a better story/ script than the most recent remake that had no real story at all. Prom Night is a decent slasher flick that all ages can enjoy.
