9 out of 10 Skulls

Deep in space a group on a space cargo ship are just doing their jobs as normal until. They land on this planet to check out an SOS they received and they find a crashed ship. They find these little eggs and they bring them on board their own ship, but that just might be the worst idea. The egg hatches and out comes this little crab like alien with a long tail that attacks one of the crew members. It wraps around his face and for some reason is supplying him with oxygen. The other crew members don't know what to do because cutting the thing off could kill him, so they leave it there. But the thing eventually falls off and the man is alright. Until, one day everyone is sitting around the table talking and he begins to feel some pain, then BAM!!!! Some sort of thing pops out of his chest, and then it runs off....What the hell was it? Whatever it is, its gotten bigger, and now its picking off the crew one by one....and did I mention, it has acid blood..Yeah thats right, just to make things worse. Now the crew has to find a way off the ship, or to survive the ship.

Alien is without a doubt a classic Sci-Fi/Horror movie from the late 70's. It looks great, the effects are amazing and of course, NO CGI! Its directed beautifully by Ridley Scott, who is a master director who also did movies like Gladitor and Black Hawk Down in recent memories. The movie is acted well and Sigourney Weaver is a strong main character who supports not only this one by all four of the movies as being one bad ass chick.

The gore is done very well, what they have of it. And there are some good scenes, but I do feel that Aliens is better...but thats just my opinion. Some people prefer the first and some prefer the second, I for one like the second. But that doesn't mean I don't love the first movie, cause I do and this movie really does deserve it. Alien has great set pieces and great effects for its time and if you havn't seen it you really do need to. Plus this movie is offered in the top hundred scariest movie moments of all time as number 2, thats right number 2. And its for that famous alien pop out scene, that now everyone knows about and of course doesn't have the same effect it did 30 years ago, but it still looks great regardless.

Overall this is a need to see for everyone, not just horror and sci-fi fans. This is a masterpiece of cinema in my opinion just not as enjoyable as the second :/. But its a great movie and still looks great. I give Alien a deserving 9/10!!!!
