The Thing Review

From director John Carpenter, Halloween, comes this classic remake from the 80's. The Thing while using great use of prothetics and robotics to create a realistic and creepy atmosphere also performs well on the acting and the gory greatness. People who use CGI in films should look back on a movie like this and see how it should be done, This movie to this day still looks amazing.
The Thing is basically about this creature of some sort that copies its host and then kills them. When this, whatever it is shows up in a remote facility in Alaska where a group of men are working then all hell breaks loose. The thing begins copying the people working in the facility and no one knows whose who and no one trusts anyone. This leads to the men turning on each other and performing tests to see who is normal and who is infected. But will they get out alive, or will this thing kill them all?
Kurt Russell stars in this movie, which is pretty typical cause him and John Carpenter usually work together often, and he does a great job along with the supporting cast. Although not oscar winning stuff its still believeable and good enough to respect.
The movie, although a remake, is great and easily a classic. Its an 80's remake but it is done by a great director and done with its own originallity and true love for what is going on instead of the remakes that come out now adays done by Harry WhoShoe who directed the latest Chingy music video who is breaking into film and starts off with a remake of a movie he's never heard of. John Carpenter loves the horror genre and he added to it, instead of going with the basic cliches, he created an original and masterfull piece of art, for us horror fans.
If your into horror you already know about this movie and chances are you have heard of this movie if you are not. Either way, this isn't just a movie for fans of the horror genre to see, its also got those obvious sci-fi elements and could also be enjoyed by film enthusiasts as well. But of course, horror fans will probably clap at the great gore effects and the fun gags thrown about in the film.
Although, with all the good things said, there are the few downsides. Like, for some (including me), this movie may be alittle boring or may drag on, cause there is lots of dialogue. Dialogue of course is not a bad thing, but as long as it keeps your attention, this for the most part did but at times it was boresome. But regardless, this is a great movie!
Overall, this is a must see for all horror fans! Thats a fact, chances are you will like this movie but hey, don't take my word for it, check this movie out for yourself, most definitely a recommendation from me. I give John Carpenter's The Thing n 8/10!!!!
