Evil Aliens (2005) Review

9 out of 10 Skulls

Bizarre, gory, gruesome but an insane and laugh out loud film that will appeal to all the gore hounds on here. This I had no expectations of and came out of the experience with a smile, a chuckle and a new appreciation of Low-budget B Movies and what they can and often do offer.

This was an utter blast from end to beginning and will keep you amused.

Evil Aliens has gained a place within my heart and DVD collection, this is a movie to seriously be sought out!

STORYLINE

Weird Worlde is a TV show that sensationalizes and fabricates reports of UFOs and Aliens. With the ratings down they are in need of a new story to bring the audience level up, Michelle Fox, lead reporter of Weird Worlde comes up with an idea that might save them. Convincing her chief, they travel along with a team to the remote location of Scalled, a welsh island. There they meet Cat, a young woman who claims she was abducted along with her boyfriend and that she was impregnated by the aliens. However soon after the crew have arrived, they are lead to believe that Cat has been speaking the truth. Fox realises this could boost the ratings and so continues filming, but before long limbs, heads and asses are flying everywhere as the blood flies. Who will survive the night with these evil aliens...?

The way you know wherever you like a movie can occur within the first few minutes. There are rare movies that take time to really crank up gear and decide but I have found when it comes to horror, if in the first few moments you cannot enjoy the movie then often what follows is a poor add on.

Within the first two minutes of the film, I knew I was in for a kick-ass ride! You know the movie will be B-Movie paradise when it opens to a ridiculously over the top sex scene and no female nudity, just the guy's bare butt. As soon as I saw that clip I knew the film was going to be a wild ride and was it? Oh hell yes!

It starts with an anal probe (seriously watch it!) and from then on the blood doesn't so much drip as fly in this movie. There's enough blood to fill a few swimming pools and enough limbs to fill 4 buckets at the very least. Non stop and beautifully grotesque throughout!

It is rather hard to choose one particular actor/ actress who did a good job because they all leant a cheesy tone to the movie. So let's just focus on the main star:

Emily Booth (Michelle Fox): Wow! She was sexy in.... Umm sorry acting? Let's say she is not really an amazing actor and what carried her throughout the movie was simply her looks. The cheekiness of the top she wears to host Weird Worlde is funny enough but she exudes pure sexiness throughout the movie, she is an acquired taste but I think she was good enough eye candy to keep the movie rolling along nicely.

The rest of the cast helped the movie in their own 'unique' way. From blonde bombshell Candy all the way to hapless hero Gavin, they each perform absurdly but memorable in the roles required to make this insane film work to full effect.

That muscle of the movie,

Music/ Score: Was highly irritating or would be for a movie that is more serious, more deadpan and rather lucid. But for a movie of this time it just seemed to compliment the overall movie. Irritating but rather oddly enjoyable with Evil Aliens.

Cinematography, kisses all around! There is nothing better than actually using some nice frames of cinematography in a movie that is spread with cheese. The shot of the stone circles with the mist spread around, the bright sun that didn't seem too harsh but gentle enough and the dark moody oppressed moments all add a certain element to this film.

Gore/ Special Effects/ Added Gore- Oh my! Oh my! I am accustomed to my gore and I appreciate it in ladles and this offered plenty. Did the effects look realistic? No and therein lied the fun. It never presented the gore as serious but as a nice throwback to other horror films a la Evil Dead II etc...

There is so much but to name a few... we have limbs being torn from bodies, eyes pulled from sockets, an butt toy that is anything but cute, beheadings, open stomachs with inside contents, yes all the nastiness are on display and done in glorious form. Adding a combine harvester to the festive just was joyous. The blood is over-the-top, insane but damn irresistible to the eye. You will love it!

This is balls to balls horror schlock comedy and it doesn't try to be something it is not. Ok yes some of the CGI is questionable and that alien sex scene actually made me squirm lol but it is a good enjoyable film. Enough sex, blood and insaneness to keep the movie going.

The aliens looked funny in terms of how well they looked and fought. Never veering into pandemonium they kept a real edge to their characters and the welsh farmers? Oh ecstasy! I have never laughed so hard in all my life. This movie really manages to make the aliens in Mars Attack look like puppies.

For £3 this was a steal but it is well worth seeing, if not seen.

Quirky, odd, gory and insane this will appeal to anyone with a love for the good old B-Movies or who appreciate a good slashing of cheese on a cracker. You want something that can mock itself? This is it; once again my belief in British horror is reaffirmed. Pure juvenile, delicious viewing, an experience everyone must experience.

Here I say Bye, rent this, grab that popcorn and prepare yourself for a laugh a minute, complete gore fest of high proportion. Slap me silly and call me hot fuzz, this is the icing on the cake and a movie that truly defied and twisted my expectations.

Fantastically overboard horror, rent it now!!

Peace and bloody offerings,

BTK.
