Poltergeist Review

I recently watched that movie and I thought I should write a review for it. At the beginning I thought that the movie would be based on some real-life incidents. Having myself studied a lot about Poltergeists, it turned out that the movie is not based on any such incidents. But this is not at all a problem. The movie is a Steven Spielberg's production thus means that it is full of special effects and Hollywood like terror. But this just adds to the enjoyment.

The story is about a family living in an ordinary house. Or so they thought. Some strange incidents start to happen like furniture moving around or strange voices coming from the tv. At first the family thinks of these incidents as someone wants to play with them but soon they find out something is going terribly wrong. One night the family's youngest daughter disappears and from then on everybody's trying to find her. Of course by themselves they can't do something great because they don't know so much about spirits and that's why they call a group of paranormalists to help them. Even then though they find that they need more help and that's why they call an experienced lady to the rescue. You should find more by watching the movie.

As you can see the plot is ordinary.. A lot of movies have been out with a similar plot so I don't think it's anything special. I didn't like the ending at all. It just seemed a bit fanservice to me with all the monsters and not so much explains. Not at all possible to happen. Also I didn't like how the spirits and the monsters looked. They were too not-true. There were also some frightening moments and the whole atmosphere was thrilling. As for the acting, it seemed bad to me. At the most serious moments, the actors' expressions were sometimes funny and couldn't really get you to the mood of the film. Reffering to the soundtrack, it was simply great while the sound effects were aewsome and added a lot to the whole thing. In general this was a fun to watch movie, but not a masterpiece.

To sum up, in my opinion you would have fun watching this movie, but you can always watch something better than this. You will enjoy yourself through this film but it has nothing more to give as a whole. I believe that is my opinion because the film was made 25+ years ago and the horror standards have been changed.
