Let the Right One In Review

This movie may be a vampire love story type movie, but its not gay like Twilight its actulally a very good and well done movie! Its well acted, even by the little ones, and its beautiful and kindly to look at. Its got some action and its got a great original story among two kids.
LTROI (let the right one in) is about a little 12 year old name Oskar who is not the popular kid in school. In fact, he is picked on by bullies a lot in school. Anyways, Oskar gets a new neighboor one day and its a girl his age named Eli and they become friends quite quickly. Actually, they kind of become more than friends, but we'll get to that later. There is just something strange about Eli though, she isn't like a normal girl. Eli has the ability to do inhuman things, she has pale skin and can't go out in the day, and she has a thirst for blood which is satisfied by her adult figure in her life (who is kind of a guardian for her). People begin dying and Eli is to be blamed, but Oskar doesn't want to give her away because he loves her. How will this end? Trust me, chances are you will never guess!
I really enjoyed this movie. But one TRUE complaint, and really this isn't against the movie, is that its been hyped up like CRAZY! Don't listen to hype for any movie, I hate reading all these people's opinions about movies just to finally see it and be dissapointed. Everyone, for the most part, has a different perspective on a film, what they see or get from the movie and listening to hype just is a bother to me. Anyways, LTROI regardless is a very good and well done love story between children. Its a foreign movie and right now I believe only foreigns are making good original movies!
You obviously won't know anyone in this movie and what this does is give the movie a type of connection. Its better than seeing this one's face and being like oh yeah I know them, I hate them! You don't know these kids and can relate to them and determine whether you like them or not, I always love that in a movie! This movie also does that well, you get a connection for these kids, they are just innocent little kids caught in a troubling situation (or at least one of them is).
I believe the director and everyone working on this deserves a round swift pat on the back. Everyone working on this movie should be proud of the outcome, its a great vampire movie that takes a love story and makes it bearable on film. I flat out HATE love stories but I liked this one (well and Shaun of the Dead :P).
This movie isn't a gory movie but it has a FEW moments of gory and blood. Its nothing too much or over the top. And nor is that stuff needed in this film!
Overall, You need to see this movie, but see it like you have heard nothing about it. You don't know whether people liked it or not, your all alone in your own persona of movie watching and you are about to watch a new film. See it like that without all the hype and enjoy it, its a great film! Truly watch it though! Understand it! Love it! I give Let the Right One In a 9/10!!!!
