I will admit that although I am in love with so many of the stories surrounding serial killers, the BTK killer is one that I am very vague on details with. Actually, I just know that BTK is Blind, Torture, Kill. But, when I heard that my boy, Kane Hodder (favorite horror actor) was starring in this role, I already knew I'd love it.
Although Kane's Ed Gein role was horribly different from the actual Ed Gein (size really) I think he does this role better. Now I will be the first to admit that although I love Kane, he's not the best actor. In fact, I think his acting almost is a mockery of those he's portraying like a ordinance officer he is in this movie.
He plays the voyeur, Dennis Rader. Voyeur is a wrong word...although he looks at his victims before killing them, he also is into S&M and probably has either MPD or schizophrenia.
Side comment: I didn't know the suffocating made your eyes bleed. Who knows? I'll let you figure out the rest for yourself.
What I love about this movie is how Dennis is both a great family man to his wife and kids and then a complete psychotic creep. He stalks out his victims and spends time getting to know their pattern of life.
The saving grace to this movie is how convincing Kane Hodder is of the role. Rage, love, confusion and guilt are all parts of his character that he's able to portray. Happy to see him move past JUST the stunt man.
All in all, this movie is nothing great. It's not terrible, though. I'm glad I rented it and can share with you my opinion. Hopefully you'll feel the same as me, hopefully not worse! Enjoy. Peace.
