Dead Girl Review

Ricky and JT are very close friends but one discovery will drive them apart. One day while wandering around an abondoned hospital they go searching around the tunnels in the basement and find a girl in a room....the door was rusted locked and the girl was obviously down there for a long time...but she's still alive! The first thing that comes to JT's mind is sex! Sex with the body, and Ricky is totally against that. Ricky has his eyes set on a popular girl who is totally out of his league. JT finds out, by hitting the girl many times, that she can't die...no matter what she basically can't die. He breaks her neck and shoots her four times and she just keeps on breathing. So JT gets his friend Wheeler to have sex with the body thinking this is all they will ever get, and Ricky tries to stop them. He feels the girl should be set free, but she is a crazed mental patient and tries to kill Ricky when he tries to set her free. What is the way to end this? And when others get involved in the mix thats when it turns really bad!
Basically, the movie is about a girl who can't die being raped by some sex crazed teens and when she gets her chances she goes crazy and bites people. Sound interesting? Well, the truth is, this movie was very well done! It kept my interest thoroughly from the beginning with only dropping it a bit from time to time in the middle. The movie picks up fast and there were times when I literally couldn't look away from the screen because I wanted to see what was going to happen next so badly!
I mainly saw this movie for two reasons. Number one, I've been hearing good things about it and people have been telling me to check it out. And two, Trent Haaga, who used to work on some Troma films and acted in Terror Firmer and Citizen Toxie, wrote this movie, and its kewl to see where he's gotten from Troma...and he did a good job coming up with a story that is original, dark, and perverted, yet still having that hint of whats right and whats wrong and how far someone would really go!
This movie is directed by Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel and they did a great job not only making a some what disturbing horror film but they also made it dark and its done very well. The acting isn't the best but its not bad, the actors are all, for the most part, believable and do good jobs. The mains characters, mainly JT, I feel are great for their roles.
Really my only complaint would be the lack of showing violence/gore....now GRANTED this may just be because I saw the rated version, not the unrated, it just seemed the movie didn't show too much, they show some gore but nothing you would really expect. Once again, this may just be the rated version, so most definitely don't rent this movie and buy the unrated version and see it!
This really is a great movie, and to say its one of the best of the year is really not an understatement. No, its not my favorite horror film this year and probably not even top five but its a damn good original semi-disturbing horror film that will get into your head. The images will most likely stay with you and this is one taht horror fans will respect. See this movie, and enjoy it for what it is! Its great, and I really enjoyed it, especially since the story got my attention from the beginning and I really wanted to know what happened next, it did that well! So I give DeadGirl a 8/10!!!!
